Pop star Rihanna’s relationship with boyfriend Chris Brown was hanging by a thread last night after he allegedly bit her in his rented Lamborghini.
Brown, 19, is said to have assaulted Rihanna, 20, after they fought in his car following a pre-Grammys party. He will appear in court next month.
Rihanna is believed to have bite marks on her arms and “visible injuries” to her face after the alleged assault.
The couple had earlier posed for pictures and were spotted kissing and cuddling at music mogul Clive Davis’s famous annual party.
They were also due to appear at the Grammys later that day – but were both forced to cancel.
A source said: “Inside the party they were very lovey-dovey, but later on they were arguing.
“Rihanna is now doing a lot of soul searching over whether their relationship can last. Only time will tell.”
LAPD spokeswoman April Harding, who refused to confirm Rihanna’s identity, said: “Brown and the woman were inside a vehicle. According to the victim they became involved in an argument. The argument then escalated into an altercation.”
The Barbadian-born beauty, who spent 10 weeks at No1 with her single Umbrella in summer 2007, was taken to hospital and released the same night. Her spokesperson told the Mirror: “Rihanna is well. Thank you for your concern and support.”
