Roy Haynes Quartet, Geen Chimneys, live in Paris, Duc des Lombards. 25/11/2008. Complete. I was sitting in front of the drums. This theme from Thelonious Monk is one of my favorites. It's amazing to think that Roy played with Monk. I was sitting next to Roy Haynes for the second set of this evening with his quartet at the Duc des Lombards. Here are some extracts: you can really what he's playing... Roy is 84 and is one of the best jazz drummers of all time. He played with Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Roland Kirk, Art Pepper, Stan Getz, Sarah Vaughan, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Kenny Barron, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Bud Powell,Michel Petrucciani, Danilo Perrez,Jack Dejohnette, etc. As a natural drummer, nobody plays like him and nobody is able to. hese concert was as usual awsome: what a swing ! what a joy ! And the young musicians playing with him, Jaleel Shaw (sax), Martin Bejerano(piano), David Wong (bass) are really great in particular the pianist. Don't hesitate and go to see him live ! And the Duc des lombards is a really nice and cool jazz club in Paris. J'étais assis juste à côté de Roy Haynes pour ce second set au Duc des Lombards. Voici quelques extraits, vous povez vraiment le voir jouer. Roy a 84 ans et c'est un des plus grands batteurs et musiciens de l'histoire du jazz. Il anotamment joué avec toutes les personnes citées plus haut. C'est un batteur naturel, il n'a pas suivi de cours et personne ne sait et ne peut jouer ...
